For Immediate Release: Panama’s Association of Realtors and Real Estate Developers (ACOBIR) to Launch Multiple Listing Service Platform (MLS).

Panama’s Association of Realtors and Real Estate Developers (ACOBIR) is partnering with the Canadian Company Realty Server, Inc. to launch the first Multiple Listing Service platform for the Republic of Panama. In 60 days, thousands of Realtors will begin entering the data for their exclusive listings. Panama’s Association of Realtors and Real Estate Developer’s (ACOBIR) represent more than 60% of Panama’s real estate property market according to some experts. ACOBIR members’ exclusive listings will be entered into the new MLS system. The modern online platform will allow ACOBIR members to broadcast their listings to thousands of cooperating brokers and efficiently share up-to-date property information with millions of viewers from around the world. The implementation of an MLS will bolster ACOBIR Realtors’ top position in the Panamanian real estate market and add to the integrity provided by ACOBIR realtors in real estate transactions.

Nice weather, safety, good prices! .. recently I read many good articles my Sister sent me. This one is out of National Geographic.

In the review Panama appears as one of the best locations to go in 2012, siting the massive Panama Canal Expansion, the growing economy, and the new hotel projects as good reasons to put Panama on the top of your list of places to travel in 2012.

As a bridge between continents, Panama, 51 miles sea-to-sea at its mid point only looks slight. The Panama Canal , which capitalized on the Central American country’s slim waistline to become a literal nexus of global trade, will expand with two new sets of locks, one on the Pacific side of the canal and one on the Atlantic, designed for massive, 13,000 container cargo ships, due to be completed in 2014. World traders occupy gleaming new hotels that modernize the colonial capital

The National Georaphic article also mentioned one of Chiriqui’s highland areas, Boquete, and the fact that at this day in age one can still see the area’s native culture, and Coiba National Park, one of the best spots in the world that scuba divers should not miss.

In Panama, nature and indigenous culture are abundant , The Canal- bordering tropical lowlands of Soberania National Park ring with the cries of howler monkeys and the chatter of toucans . The cool flower-filled highland town of Boquete sits in the shadow of the country’s tallest volcano. Embera women paint their bodies and create elaborate neckpieces. At the offshore Coiba National Park, where a maximum of only 40 overnight visitors are allowed , divers share the pristine water with scientific researchers and whale sharks.

A week ago I was surfing the web when I found an interesting article in Forbes. It is focused in the growing economy of Panama and the new projects in the city, highlighting the new spectacular hotels and biodiversity museum.

The $5.25 billion Panama canal expansion is underway and scheduled for completion in 2014 . The aim is to allow a greater volume and size of ships to pass through the historic, 50-mile long waterway.. The result? Panama City is transforming into a energetic, modern metropolis, with investors preparing for moneyed visitors upping its luxury quotient.

The Donald Trump Project (Trump Ocean Club International Tower), which is the tallest building in Latin America, has augmented the popularity of Panama with travellers and investors as well. The Waldorf Astoria Project (the Panamera), located just 15 minutes from Marcos A. Gelabert International Airport and within walking distance of the massive Cinta Costera (Panama City’s version of Cental Park), puts another notch in Panama’s belt for luxury high end hotels.

The Tump Tower is uniquely shaped like a tall ship’s sail, and rooms have floor to ceiling views of Panama City and the Pacific Ocean. Panamanian touches such as wood-carved headboards grace the 369 guest rooms, and luxury services abound, including wardrobe storage assistance (so frequent visitors don’t have to lug baggage back and forth) and a complimentary catamaran to Trump’s private Beach Club (an island with white sand beaches, a pool, cabanas, water sports, and beach chair service) But its the 1,830 Square foot pool deck that really caught our attention- it has a gorgeous infinity-edge pool, alfresco seating at the poolside bar and restaurant and expansive ocean views.

Personally, I think one of the best places in Panama City is Casco Viejo, with its historic neighborhood feel, art, music, and the best food in the city.

There’s much more to do than lounge poolside in Panama. The once dilapidated but charmingly historic neighborhood of Casco Viejo has undergone a sophisticated makeover in recent years. While you can still spot the colonial-era architecture prevalent throughout its streets, the area now houses some of the city’s best restaurants, bars, galleries and hotels. DiVino Enoteca is a swanky wine bar, with varieties of wines to choose from ( watch for the classic, black-and-white movies playing silently in the background) At tapas restaurant Manolo Caracol, there is no menu- once seated , you’ll be given a variety of small plates with Spanish influences, such as Andalusian Gazpacho with cucumber sorbet and spicy tuna sashimi.

The new museum “BioMuseo” is set to open soon and citizens are very anxious to see it done.

The Frank Gehry-designed BioMuseo is set to open early 2013, and will focus on the country’s fascinating biodiveristy and the importance of the isthmus-the narrow strip of land that makes Panama and its revenue generating Canal. And though the museum isn’t officially open, you can join the list of VIPs (Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Jane Goodall) and stop by the site for a sneak peak.

Panama in the NY times

Wow! What a year for Panama 2012 is going to be. Panama tops the list as #1 for New York Times’ “45 Places to Go in 2012”.

Twelve years ago Panama regained control of the Panama Canal, and the country’s economy is booming. In the city you can see that there are a lot of activities, many fun places to go and the Panamanian people are very nice to boot. You will see that there are several buildings under construction with many US expatriates and investors involved in construction, staying in hotels, and buying retirement homes . The passage of the United States-Panama free trade agreement in October has accelerated this international exchange of people and dollars (the countries use the same currency).

All the fun is not in the city! You have to meet Bocas del Toro Archipielago, Chiriqui and San Blas as one of the new discoveries in this country. All of those locations have become a popular stop on the backpacker circuit .

There are other new exciting projects like The Panamera, the first Waldorf Astoria hotel in Latin America (set to open in 2012) , The Trump Ocean Club the region’s tallest building which opened last summer, and the Bio Museo, a natural history museum. The Casco Viejo (old neighborhood) was designated a Unesco World Heritage site in 1997 and is now a trendy arts district with galleries, coffeehouses, street musicians and some of the city’s most stylish restaurants and boutique hotels .
